Rabbi Shmuly and Nechomele Levertov, together with their children, moved to Leander to open Chabad of Leander — a Jewish home for the growing communities of Leander and Liberty Hill, built on warmth and an open door.
Rabbi Shmuly Levertov
Rabbi Shmuly was born in Austin, and studied in Detroit, Manchester, Morristown, Chicago and New York, where he received his rabbinical ordination. His years in community outreach and campus Jewish engagement shaped the warm, open approach he brings to every class, farbrengen and conversation.
Nechomele Levertov
Nechomele was born in Texas and raised in Michigan. A beloved camp counselor and teacher of both elementary and high school students, she trained in Israel and leads the women's learning and family programming — including the weekly Torah & Tea.
